I just got around to watching *every* Star Trek movie ever made. Which is not a lot (10, to be exact), especially considering most are basically just your regular Star Trek episodes streched over two hours. All except one.
Nemesis is the latest and greatest Star Trek movie, the emphasis on the movie part. While it's prequels (and indeed, the entire franchise) focused heavily on sociological and phylosophical questions, which is all well and good, this one is just a great movie.
They do all the stuff they never dared before, like huge starships ramming into one another, and in this one scene, Data *JUMPS* from one half-destroyed ship to another, which was just such an awesome thing for him to do (he is superhuman, afterall, and this was his first real show of his abillities).
It's a real shame more movies aren't being made, they just got it right with this one and they quit production plans. | View - comment -(29-12-2004)

| Dec. 20th, LANparty | Me and a couple of guys have been talking about doing this since before summer, and finally we got around to synchronising our schedules and actually do it. Basically, what we did was, we took our computers to this big house in the middle of nowhere and we played games for two days straight. Unlike this other party I went to a week earlier, this one had no drinking or loud popular music, but it was just as exhausting.
I won at pretty much anything they threw at me, but even when I didn't it was fun. There's just something about wasting the guy sitting next to you with a flak gun that does it for us nerds. It was fun. | View - comment -(20-12-2004)

| Dec. 14th, Worst night of my life | I am having the absolute worst night of my life in the history of Worst Nights of Somebody's Life. I came down with a high fever yesterday and managed to knock it down a few notches with excessive sweating. I was almost OK come bedtime.
But then... For the past 5 hours I was absolutely sure I was going insane. It was the worst feeling, let me tell you, and I'm being dead serious. Instead of the usual uninterpretable halucionations, which can be kind of fun, my brain was stuck in a feedback loop of crunching numbers.
The numbers were five figured and the process involved placing the number in a particular order. The thing was, just thinking of that number spawned a bunch of other numbers, which would make my head hurt until I had done away with them. But they never stopped...
I'm putting this down to the excessive coding I've done in the past month (well, the high fever probably had something to do with it as well). I'm sure I haven't conveyed my true feelings well enough, but let me assure you, you don't ever want to fully understand... It was insanity. | View - comment -(14-12-2004)

| Dec 13th, You bunch of freaks :) | I've added some winter/holiday themed wallpapers in anticipation of Christmas and New Year's, but I might as well have left them out. All you guys care about are semi-naked pornstars and weird fetishes such as feet and other bizarre motives to brighten up your desktops. After uploading wallpapers of Jenna Jameson and the before mentioned holiday themed images, I've seen Jenna being requested at a 10:1 ratio when compared to wallpapers featuring Santa and snowmen.
I think I've got a pretty good idea of what type of offering I need to prioritize... :) I might even add a fetish section, if I get enough further requests, even though that is against my better judgement.

I was just browsing some websites looking for certain news, when I came across this fantastic gif animation. It looked like garbage at fist glance, I mean how many stick figure animations have you seen in your lifetime, but something grabbed me and made me look at it long enough to realise it was special.

| Dec. 11th, Growing steadily | I've been working like mad coding this section of my site. It's by far the most advanced php/mysql effort I've done since I started in this "business", even though it's all still rather basic. I am learning, though, and that's a large part of why I'm doing this anyway.
I'll be doing a poll soon, to see what wallpapers you people are actually looking for, so I can expand the selection accordingly. I've got a pretty good idea of what's missing looking at the failed searches you guys make (some are pretty sick, by the way), but I'd still like to do a poll. | Dec. 7th, New ideas | A funny thing happened the other day. I was looking around my server logs and noticed an insane amount of requests for a file that doesn't exist on my server anymore. It occured to me, that restoring that file might bring more traffic. And seeing how I love to play with traffic statistics, the new wallpaper section was inevitable (menu in your left, or top). Initial results are staggering and my traffic analysis tools have much to process. The banners are getting an exercise out of it as well ;).
On the subject of generating traffic, I've got another idea that'll gradually become a reality in the course of the coming months. It's a project for Jezdec.Org and it's concept lies heavily on user interaction. In other words, it's the kind of thing that keeps a user coming back for more. I've done some research on similair projects (glasujzame.com, simpatije.com, ratemybody.com) and have achieved a basic grasp of what makes them tick. I won't be targeting the user's vanity, however. If I had ever been deciding on a sex change operation, I would surely abandon all doubts after seeing this precognition by Urska. If I actually went through with something like this it's pretty obvious I wouldn't be able to fool anyone. I'd be getting a refund on the procedure by the time they handed me a mirror.
I'd keep the hair, though.
This is probably not the most appropriate time to mention this (which is why I'm going to anyway), but I thought I'd share my amateur bodybuiding progress with you. I was optimistic enough to take measurements of various parts of my body 11 months ago, thinking I'd notice a difference in a year or so. Well I decided not to wait a full year, being insanely impatient and all, so here are the results.
My weight has gone from 86kg to 96kg, which is an 11% increase. That'd be fine if it were just muscle mass, but no such luck. Still, I'm told I've progressed nicely so here are some more numbers: my upper arm has grown from 34 cm in diameter to 39cm, (14%), my chest from 94cm to 101cm (7%), my thigh from 60cm to 66cm (10%). My forearm has grown 11% and my neck brings up the rear at 5%.
On average that's almost a 10% growth overall, which either means I'm getting really fat, or buff. In reality it's neither, because at my height of almost 2m changes like this aren't as noticable. Perhaps someday... | View - comment -(23-11-2004)
